Stock the Pantry 2021

Day of Action to Stock the Pantry is an annual initiative that is held to directly help local food pantries stock their shelves with healthy foods for the summer months, when demand increases and supplies dwindle. Here at United Way of Greater Waterbury, we have two different ways you can get involved this year!

Join United Way of Greater Waterbury Emerging Leader Brian Kimmey of the Palace Theater as he takes you inside the Cheshire Community Food Pantry with their Executive Director Kerry Walsh, as they share how Stock the Pantry benefits the residents of Cheshire:

Virtual giving:

Give online by purchasing healthy food items!

Last year, we collected monetary donations that went directly to our local food pantries. This year, we've partnered with #GiveHealthy to help purchase and distribute healthy food items to our local food pantries. You can click on the link below and choose from 15 items that the food pantries have identified as being most in need right now. You'll see apples, oranges, granola bars, peanut butter, cereals and more to donate.

in-person collecting:

Collect in-person and drop off on our Day of Action!

This year, United Way of Greater Waterbury invites you to collect healthy food items with family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and more. Start collecting and prepare to drop off your donations on Friday, June 18th at MacDermid Alpha in downtown Waterbury!

Date: Friday, June 18th
Time: 8:00 am - 11:00 am
Address: 245 Freight Street, Waterbury, CT 06702

We encourage you to use the following Collection Card templates to inform us what you've collected within your group. Complete the following steps:

  1. Print an itemized Collection Card or an empty Collection Card that you can fill out using Food Pantry Wishlist items.

  2. Start collecting! Keep track of the donations and fill out the card with your name/business and the total number of items received.

  3. Drop off all donations on Friday, June 18th in boxes/bags/crates that you can part with! This will be super helpful for us as we work to sort and distribute amongst 11 food pantries.
