There Has Never Been a Better Time to 'Be the Reason'

I am happy to be stepping into the role of board chair at the United Way of Greater Waterbury—despite the challenges our community is facing for two reasons - the people and the strategy.  Donors, volunteers, businesses, local officials, and the United Way staff came together in 2020 as our strategies held strong.  United Way’s activities in our community are proactive programs and initiatives driven by something called Community Impact.

A lot of thought and data goes into these strategies.  The information we’ve gathered on the Greater Waterbury area proved invaluable. Knowing what should be addressed, and how, is critical to ensuring that resources are directed to the right places.

United Way of Greater Waterbury didn’t ask anyone to wait for help as we addressed the immediate needs triggered by the pandemic.  As the demand for services increased, so did our response. Our response is detailed in our Annual Report which can be found HERE.  You can learn how this vital work is taking place alongside the traditional work that our ten-town region relies on us to continue each and every day.

This year’s campaign theme is “Be the Reason”.  I’m proud to be one of the reasons why our community will be better off as people and strategies will come together at the same table.  Thank you to everyone invested in our community, creating opportunities that translate into thriving families that support our local businesses and make our community stronger.  Live United!
