$1,200,000+ in Federal Refunds
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) volunteers in Greater Waterbury processed 1,016 tax returns in 2025, generating $1,281,319 in Federal refunds to low-income households with an average refund over $1,261 which they could use to help meet their basic needs. Each household saved an estimated $300 in tax preparation fees or $304,800 total. In addition, the households were able to access $402,353 in Earned Income Tax Credits.
